From the “what were they thinking?” catalog: greenwashing the Chevy Tahoe
This is truly the case with the naming of the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid as the Green Car Journal’s Green Car of the Year. Amid the overall absurdity of naming a 20 mpg, 5500 pound, $50,000+ light-duty vehicle that will mainly end up in suburban drive-ways (typically with just one person in them when driven) somehow green, one has to wonder at the “names” associated with the award. These include Carl Pope, Sierra Club’s executive director; Christopher Flavin (Worldwatch Institute), Jonathan Lash (World Resources Institute), and Jean-Michel Cousteau (Ocean Futures Society).Brits second least committed to stopping climate change
UK residents are the second least committed to making changes to their lives to combat climate change but are at the same time are the most critical of their government's moves, according to a recent survey.
The Climate Confidence Monitor 200, a survey of 12,000 people carried out by HSBC, revealed that only 26 per cent of Brits make a significant effort to help reduce climate change.
Developing countries such as Mexico (40 per cent), Brazil (34 per cent) and China (56 per cent), put the UK to shame.
But, while Britons said they were not making a significant effort, around 40 per cent said the government was not doing enough and about ten per cent said individuals were doing too much.
