Vietnam: Cold snap predicted to worsen flooding problems

The city’s authorities have pooled their efforts to rescue and relocate 5,183 heavy flooding - prone households. People’s Committees of districts under the city has taken urgent measures to prevent and control flooding and mobilised over 6,000 people to protect dykes.

The National Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Centre reported on November 4 that the northern and north-central regions are expected to suffer heavy rains from November 6-8 due to a current of cold air which is moving towards Vietnam from China. The cold snap is forecast to bring a rainfall of 100-200mm and cause the water levels in the major river systems in the northern and north-central regions to rise again.
