Gore avoids official role - Jonathan Martin - Politico.com
Gore intends on continuing his work on the environment and energy from the outside rather than accepting a post.

“This meeting is a continuation of their conversations about climate and energy and how policies to address them can help the economy and jobs,” said Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider. “Former Vice President Gore still believes his calling at this time is to help educate the public about the issues through his roles at the Alliance at Climate Protection and other work.”

Even from the outside, though, Gore remains a forceful voice and enjoys a considerable following. That’s why Obama disclosed the event to the public and why he’ll let cameras in to take shots of the three.

Called the ‘Goreacle,’ half in jest, for his early prophecy on global warming, the Nobel Prize winner may be on his way to having that nickname validated further.
Calgary: Winter chill fills homeless shelters
A surprise record snowfall has filled Calgary's emergency homeless shelters --some to overflowing--with increasingly wintry conditions expected for the remainder of December.

More than 15 centimetres of snow blanketed the city into Monday, with temperatures dropping to -12Cwith the wind chill.

The dumping of snow--a re-cord for Dec.7--had city crews scrambling to clear side roads, and dozens of drivers turning to their insurers following more than 230 crashes in a 24-hour period.

By Monday evening, Calgary police had recorded 31 injury collisions and 365 non-injury collisions in Calgary since 9 a. m. Sunday morning.

Homeless Calgarians also felt the sudden blast of winter weather, prompting 2,412 people to turn to the city's emergency shelters overnight Sunday.

It's amusing that they choose to claim the term Goreacle for the alarmist side.

That it was coined by the sceptics to ridicule the quasi-religious overtones of Gore seems to have passed them by.
