The Seattle Times: Politics: Gore scoffs at Reichert's stance on global warming
Most of the laughs from the crowd of about 100 students and alternative energy entrepreneurs at the Seattle University event came when Gore talked about Reichert's beliefs about global warming.
Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, who introduced the speakers, said Reichert doesn't think climate change is caused by humans.
"Did he say that?" interrupted Gore, whose film about global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth," grossed $23.7 million. "He's not sure it's caused by humans?"
"He's not convinced that it's caused by human beings," responded Nickels.
"C'mon! And this man is a United States congressman?" asked Gore. "You know, 15 percent of people believe the moon landing was staged on some movie lot and a somewhat smaller number still believe the Earth is flat. They get together on Saturday night and party with the global-warming deniers."

I'm definitely supportive of global climate change efforts, but still, a word of caution.
Nobody completely understands what is going on. The only thing that makes climate action 100% necessary is the degree of the risk and nothing more.
Though ridiculing critics for some of their more preposterous positions can be fun it also runs the risk of overwhelming legitimate scientific debate.
Reducing carbon emissions is not something that is going to hurt us and the impetus of climate change risks is a good thing, even if not completely understood. But we need to be aware of other solutions which don't pan out - as, for example, bio-fuels that actually increase carbon releases.
FWIW, I'm a big fan of Gore's too, and it damn well should've been him, or McCain, elected in President in 2000.
And that's something that might be even riskier than climate change.

Umm, yes it will hurt us badly. It will kill our economy and will literally kill the poorest people. The earth thrives in a rich Co2 environment. The only possible benefactors in the carbon reduction scheme are the Al Gore's of the world. I'm afraid that if you are a "big fan" of Al Gore, you are also a fan of a cruel, hypocritical, fraud.
Tom: Snow and cold is forecast this weekend for Washington state, including Seattle. Hopefully, Seattle will get a foot of snow and subzero temps to cure them of their global warming hysteria. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
