Day The Earth Stood Still to be allegedly 'truthful' film - Entertainment
The Day The Earth Stood Still is a classic film from 1951 that has been remade to mirror the global issues of the new millennium.
The film stars Keanu Reeves as the alien messenger Klaatu, Jennifer Connelly as an astrobiologist who is recruited to study Klaatu and Jon Hamm as a NASA official studying the case of Klaatu. Klaatu travels to Earth to discover whether humans will be able to prevent the catastrophic environmental damage that has been inflicted on the planet already.

The original version of the film dealt with the fear Americans had during the Cold War era of the 1950s. The remake deals more with the issue of global warming and the responsibility of taking care of the planet. "The remake still looks at America in a militaristic way, like 'shoot now, talk later,'" Reeves said. "This is more about the human species and the relationship we have to the planet. We should be looking at ourselves and who we are."

"If felt like it is an uplifting film," Connelly said. "It is a truthful and honest view of how we are living and treating each other and the planet. At the end of the day it felt empowering, and I liked the way I felt after watching the finished product."
