Wrap up - Met Office warns of Siberian blast and freezing weather - Times Online
It's time to get out the thermal underwear and thick pullovers - Britain is set for shockingly cold weather for at least the next couple of weeks.
...
How bad could this winter sink? The current weather maps are a chilling reminder of some our most savage winters, such as the notorious 1962-63 winter, the coldest for 180 years. This was when the sea froze around the coast of southeast England and crops were dug out of frozen ground with pneumatic drills and blizzards paralysed the nation. However, even if January 2009 remains freezing cold, the Met Office long-range forecast still predicts that the winter will melt away into warmer conditions in February.

Tom;I noticed you highlighted one of my posts a while ago, thank you.

A great deal of my environment stuff comes from Viv Forbes at "The Carbon Sense Coalition," which is worth keeping an eye on.
