Legislative panel skeptical about global warming | Jacksonville.com
TALLAHASSEE — Proposals aimed at curbing Florida’s greenhouse gas emissions led to skepticism about global warming from a key legislative committee Tuesday, highlighting potential trouble for the most significant environmental legislation expected in this year’s regular session.
...
...But several committee members seemed skeptical Tuesday about whether climate change is a man-made phenomenon and whether changes in state policy could stop it. One, Rep. Lake Ray, R-Jacksonville, wondered about the price tag, too.
“We’re taking off on something that’s going to cost individuals millions and millions of dollars on something that seems at best fuzzy,” Ray said as the panel discussed the potential of a “cap-and-trade” proposal in 2010.

And Rep. Joseph Gibbons, D-Pembroke Park, said he was perplexed by some members’ unwillingness to accept global warming as fact.
“I’m not here today to argue about voodoo science,” he said.
But Kreegel said lawmakers need to be careful before signing off on new rules affecting business operations.
“I believe we need to be skeptical of any new regulations in any field,” he said.
