Cold Weather Means More Illnesses - Little Rock- msnbc.com
Winter's here, heralding the season of sickness. While frigid temperatures and howling winds may seem to be the obvious culprits, studies have shown that cold weather, in and of itself, doesnt make you sick.

The problem, experts say, is that the grim weather being felt around much of the country drives us indoors.
Cold Weather Wreaks Havoc on Yakima Schools - KNDO-TV- msnbc.com
YAKIMA, Wash-- The Yakima School District will now have to direct funds away from students in order to make building repairs. The two oldest high schools in the district aren't holding up during this recent cold blast.

Eisenhower and Davis High School both received thousands of dollars in damages. The outside of both schools are well maintained but, in the walls and beneath the ground lie old plumbing. Pipes have been corroding for almost 60 years.
...
Soria said the unfortunate part of the whole situation is now money will have to be re-budgeted to cover these repairs. Tuesday's fix alone will be over $40,000. He called it a band-aid over a band-aid, not a permanent fix.

To top it off Davis is only one of four schools recieving cold weather damage in the past week.
Soria said he hopes these recent pipe breaks show people major renovations are needed, for schools that have outlived their plumbing systems.
