Global Warming Mania Has Become Religion - Jamestown

I would like to recommend that Walter Williams' column in the Dec. 26 Post-Journal be read aloud and in full at the next meetings of the BPU and the City Council. We have heard much about a huge investment hoax which took in many unsuspecting people but this ''global warming'' hoax which is being perpetrated on the whole world is a far, far greater and more costly one than the few billions lost by those investors.

I find it pathetic to read that the BPU has just spent over $10,000 buying ''CO2 Credits'' and even more pathetic that vast sums are planned to be spent burying CO2 from the power plant underground. As Willams says, the global warming mania has virtually become a religion, and anyone who speaks out against it is a heretic.

So if you do buy into the theory of man-made climate change, the next logical move would surely be to do nothing that would slow growth and technologcal advancement in rich countries -- such as a cap-and-trade regulatory system or onerous carbon taxes -- and do more to accelerate growth in poor ones through free trade and the exporting of democratic capitalism.
