Hall of Record: Decadal Occurrences Of Statewide Maximum Temperature Records
There is virtually no correlation between increased atmospheric CO2 and extreme high temperatures... at least for the continental United States which is where most of the man-made CO2 is supposed to have originated.
What do all these people actually do all day?: – Eliminate DOE for Deficit Reduction - Roeten
Thirty one years ago the Department of Energy (DOE) was established during the Carter Administration. They currently have 16,000 federal employees, and approximately 100,000 contract employees. Their proposed budget is up 4.7% from 2008. No one seems to know why the DOE was founded. The reason given 31 years ago was “to lessen our dependence on foreign oil”. Instituted on 8/4/77, the DOE is asking for 25.2 billion in discretionary funding in the US annual budget for 2009. [Via Heliogenic Climate Change]
Australian Climate Madness: Fairfax - the eco-fundamentalists' media organisation
All copper-bottomed Gore-bull. Those aren't "excuses", but well-founded reasons for caution, which Rudd & Co dismiss out of hand ("Hey, the science is settled, right?"). In fact, such a position has become far less untenable, with the almost daily growing evidence that climate change is a natural, cyclical phenomenon, that CO2 has little to do with it, and that emissions trading schemes are pointless political gestures which will set Western economies back decades whilst at the same time achieving nothing.

And the editorial writers are clearly so up to speed with climate change issues that they cannot even get the name of the IPCC correct!
