New Zealand: Can we afford sport in troubled times?
An ecological purist could argue with some conviction that last weekend's A1 Grand Prix motor racing round in Taupo was a waste of money and finite fossil fuel.

I have no idea how much it cost to bring all those cars to New Zealand or to stage the event. But New Zealand sponsor Colin Giltrap had to dip into his own pocket to help pay the millions of dollars to air freight the cars from Malaysia.

Green recovery? What caught my eye (or ear) was that it seems that Al Gore's imagined climate crisis is now playing second fiddle to the new "green recovery".
