"We are down about 14 to 15 percent over last year," says Karen Wolford, regional director for the Dayton region of the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.
Wolford attributes the decrease in sales to January's cold weather, the economy and the peanut butter recall — although Girl Scout cookies were not part of the recall.
"Girls couldn't get out to sell door-to-door during the bad weather," Wolford said.

So true, Tom! The Girl Scouts have not been very careful in "coming out of the closet" on their radical left agenda. They robustly embrace the platform of the radical left. Their cookie sales are simply a natural by product of the pubic's disapproval of their mission creep. Cookie sales have been falling for years, blaming it on the economy is a nice tactic to try to boost them. I wish they would quit using their young, impressionable membership to raise funds for their ridiculous "pet" causes. Take corporate money fine because the public is saying "enough!"
