Forget the falling stock market, the temperatures are competing for headlines. The old record of 12F was set back in 1925. That was broken at 5am when we dropped to 11F, and still could go another notch lower.
The state Game and Fish Department says three of the mountain lions killed in the state this year had shortened tails from frost bite damage and two had frostbitten ears.
Biologist Dorothy Fecske (FES'-kee) says it's still not clear exactly how this winter will affect the state's mountain lion population. But she says lion kittens are susceptible to extreme weather.
