The National Weather Service said the storm should continue through Saturday morning. Forecasts called for 8 to 18 inches of snow from the Texas panhandle north through western Kansas.
"It's been cooler than normal, particularly (the first couple of weeks of March)," he said. "Not too cold to do crop damage, just too cold for crop development. We have been running about 10 days behind normal weather-wise."
