Environmental Capital - WSJ.com : Climate Change Skeptics, Unite: Heartland Institute's 'Other' Global Warming Gabfest
One speaker at the conference is Harvard astronomer Willie Soon, a proponent of the idea that solar activity—not man-made emissions—explains varying temperatures on earth. Dr. Soon had his own Al Gore moment last week at the WSJ ECO:nomics conference in California, when he told the former vice president that he “strongly disagreed” with Mr. Gore’s stance on global warming.

“So you disagree with 3,000 scientists? Okay,” Mr. Gore replied.

We spoke with Dr. Soon last week. He says he’s been researching solar activity for almost 20 years, and says that despite official naysaying, his findings show the sun is still the biggest driver behind changing temperatures.

Meanwhile, conference participants are criticizing not only "climate change orthodoxy," but also other skeptics. Keynote speaker Richard Lindzen criticized assertions by some skeptical colleagues that fluctuations in the sun, and not human activity, were causing recent temperature changes, the Times said.
