Crucial climate meet set

SCHEDULED in advance of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December 2009, thousands of the world’s climate scientists and researchers from 80 countries will convene in Copenhagen on Tuesday for a three-day international scientific congress on climate change to deliver an update on knowledge on climate change and how to handle the risks and opportunities that come from it.

Lord Nicholas Stern, author of the influential “Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change”; Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) chairman Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, and chairman of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso will deliver keynote speeches during the congress.

Part of this week’s conference is a panel discussion on media and climate change to underscore the urgency of getting journalists actively involved in presenting right and timely information on the issue.
