Obama's Teleprompter Strikes Again - Greg Pollowitz - Planet Gore on National Review Online
Got that? "the president returned to the microphone and said his prepared remarks led him to pronounce the firm's name wrong." I think he just blamed the teleprompter.
Wind Watch: Wind farm an exercise in uselessness
I regard it as very public spirited, or as a service to our overall good, that the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs have used their Alnwick site to demonstrate the uselessness of wind farms as a primary source of electricity.

As any casual observer will have noticed, all three Alnwick turbines have hardly ever been used together. One of them has hardly turned at all since before Christmas. Most of the time just two have been used, but often nothing moves at all.

It is of importance to all employees there that they can rely on the “back-up” provided by the national grid.
Exxon Valdez: Oil Spill Anniversary Sparks Offshore Oil Debate - Environmental Capital - WSJ
More broadly, much of the debate over America’s energy future still revolves around a strawman—that renewable-energy sources like wind power and wave power are substitutes for oil.

The NYT, for instance, argues that “harnessing energy from the tides and winds… would seem to offer safer passage than punching holes in the Arctic.” Geoff Styles notes that cleaner ways to produce electricity aren’t a replacement for oil—which only provides about 1% of U.S. electricity—and “won’t be in a position to do so until there are millions of electric vehicles on the road. We’re going to need billions of barrels of new oil discoveries as we make the long transition to greener energy sources.”
