OPINION: POLITICAL CLIMATE CHANGE IN AUSTRALIA
IN the past fortnight, the politics of climate change has changed dramatically. What only six months ago was the conventional wisdom -- that Australia should lead the world on combating global warming and make deep cuts to carbon emissions via a cap-and-trade model -- has been turned on its head.

Northern Ireland Environment Minister Sammy Wilson has received support for his sceptical views on climate change from the veteran children's TV star Johnny Ball.

Mr Ball said: "He was absolutely right. We must not scare our kids to death. We must not have kids coming home telling adults how to behave.

"We must realise that saving energy is sensible thing to do in the current financial climate but if you're talking about saving the planet, that is rubbish. The effect it would have is so minimal.
