Wind Watch: Confessions of Energy Legends: Wind Power Technically, Economically Inefficient – Can’t Really Replace Natural Gas in Electricity Sector
When asked what electricity generation fuel they envisioned for load balancing once the NG has been diverted to the transportation sector (a pillar of The Pickens Plan) Boone responded “I don’t want to replace natural gas with wind … I would say that you use natural gas for power generation and a transportation fuel … natural gas will last for 20 to 65 years. Then you’re going to have to get on the battery.” Not a positive word for wind.FOXNews.com - U.N.'s Participation in Earth Hour Is Full of Hot Air, Critics Say - United Nations
The follow up comment from AEP’s Michael Morris was even more damning for the fading fame of the towering turbine: “Today wind is electrically inefficient and economically inefficient but it won’t always be. We’ll crack that equation – Thank you.”
And, for the first time in the event's three-year existence, the New York headquarters of the United Nations will also go dark, a move officials say will save $102, a figure that fluctuated wildly from its whopping initial estimate of $81,000 when requested from U.N. officials. After the story appeared on FOXNews.com, a spokeswoman called back to say their estimate was incorrect and the savings was $24,000, but then called back a third time to say it was really $102.Policymakers’ letter asks tough questions re carbon tariffs | GlobalWarming.org

"It's an attention-grabbing gesture that they expect to pay off for them big time," Claudia Rosett, a journalist-in-residence at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, told FOXNews.com. "For the U.N., climate change is the biggest cash cow of all time. They expect it to pay off for them big-time at the enormous and unaffordable expense of this and future generations."
So, in the midst of a deep worldwide recession, countries will be planning to make energy less affordable, to force some major emitters out of business, and maybe start a trade war over border tariffs. I'm just saying.
We were thrilled a few weeks back when President Barack Obama tapped Van Jones to join his administration and help promote the green jobs scene. Now, another high-profile force in the green world is joining Team Obama — Cathy Zoi, CEO of Al Gore’s non-profit, the Alliance For Climate Change Protection.
Zoi has been nominated by the President to serve as Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy in the Department of Energy. Taking over for her back at ACCP will be Maggie Fox.
