Wind Watch: Wind farm protestors targeted by vandals
Shortly after 9pm on Monday night, the properties of protestors in Pointon, Pointon Fen and Sempringham Fen were targeted by a group of men in two cars, who ripped down and spray painting the ‘no to turbine’ signs.

Debbie Wren, chairman of AGAST (Action Group Against Sempringham Turbines) said: “One car stopped at the bottom of our garden and the other came past and then came back and the men saw me and hurled abuse before driving off. They knew what they were doing, this is a no-through road to the fen.

“This is very disturbing. It is not just a random attack, those signs have been up for over a week. This is an orchestrated and organised attack against individuals who have a right to express their opinions and to say no. These men knew which properties to look for.

“This is a very very sad day for democracy and freedom of speech. We would not stop people putting ‘yes to wind farms’ posters up.”

Alarmist team battles Arctic winter to measure "melting" ice caps - CNN.com
(CNN) -- It could be the ultimate test of human endurance: Three British explorers are risking their lives in subzero temperatures to measure the melting Arctic ice cap.

The team is on a three-month, 621-mile (1000 km) hike to their final destination at the North Pole. Along the way, taking precise measurements to determine exactly how fast the ice cap is disappearing.

"It's extremely difficult to live out here. It's very, very easy to get cold injuries in seconds," said Martin Hartley, team photographer and filmmaker, via satellite phone.

The team has been braving temperatures as low as minus 39 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 38.2 degrees Celsius), spending their nights sleeping in tents and their days trudging across the shifting, barren polar expanse.
