Alarmist Richard Branson:  Maybe climate realists are right?
The other big opportunity he saw for engineering was green energy. "Sadly, global warming is a reality", he said. "The vast majority of scientists believe it, I believe it. Even if they are wrong, as an insurance policy we need to assume the worst".
...
He expressed confidence that the problems of providing green energy would be solved, adding: "I am sure there will be an earth shattering breakthrough over the next three years. It's an exciting time to be an engineer right now."
Skeptic's Corner: Won't You Be My Neighbor?
...In other words [developing countries] are saying that we want to continue business as usual, while the developed countries not only sacrifice their economic growth, but pay them to decarbonize. All this by the way financed in great part by the developing countries exports to developed countries, thus in effect just transferring not only the wealth of the developed countries but their emissions to the developing countries, insane.

But if you can have your cake and eat it too and make the other guy pay for it through a self-imposed guilt complex, well--
British Wind Energy: Private investors aren't stupid enough to invest in these swindles; so let's convince gullible politicians to lose other people's money
London (Platts)--8Apr2009 The British Wind Energy Association has called for more government action to help wind farm development, in a submission made to the UK Treasury
department ahead of the April 22 Budget.

The association warned Wednesday that a number of key projects now seeking finance face potential delays, threatening the UK's ability to meet its 2010 and 2020 renewable energy targets.

"Independent onshore developers in particular are struggling to find finance, with projects being delayed and the rate of new applications falling," the association said.
