Arkansas Blog: No climate change at Capitol
LITTLE ROCK - The House Insurance and Commerce Committee today failed to
pass two energy bills that would have provided more efficient and environmentally friendly energy in Arkansas. Both bills were opposed by several utilities companies.
Suzuki's thesis is on thin ice
During a press conference at the Sport and Environment event, the estimable Dr. Suzuki offered this alarming sound bite: "The big image every youngster has seen growing up is of Wayne [Gretzky] learning to play hockey in a backyard rink that his dad would make for him every year. Believe me, that kind of rink is not possible these days in the area where Wayne grew up." Let's repeat the last part of that statement.

"Believe me, that kind of rink is not possible these days in the area where Wayne grew up." Well, sorry, Doc, but we don't believe you.

Suzuki does the environmental movement no favours when he says stuff like this. And it certainly can't boost the credibility of his foundation's On Thin Ice report.
Lake levels defy global warming
When water levels in the Great Lakes were falling, it was taken as a symptom of global warming’s impact on the environment.

But for the second year in a row, lake levels are climbing and at a pretty good clip ranging from four inches to a foot higher than last year.

So why isn’t that seen as proof that the warming warriors, who’ve blamed every fluctuation in the weather on greenhouse gases, might have been too eager in their doomsday forecasts?
