Fairbanks: "Global Freezing Game" results
CHILL OUT: Craig Compeau says there were 2,651 entries in his “Global Freezing Game” contest, in which people had to guess whether this winter would be colder than 1947-48, when former Vice President Al Gore was born.
This is the contest linked to the ice sculpture of Gore at the corner of Airport Way and Cushman.
Compeau said the National Weather Service in Fairbanks added up the totals and found that the average temperature this winter was 4.88 degrees colder than 1947-48.
Russel Konicki, Danny Pearson, Clinton Hansen, Janette Kerr and Chris Frizzell correctly guessed 4.9 degrees.
