Spring walks around some Minneapolis lakes might come with a whiff of fish because those lakes are experiencing a fish kill after a harsh winter.

The Minneapolis parks department is warning on Friday of fish kills on Diamond Lake, Grass Lake, Loring Pond, Powderhorn Lake and Lake Hiawatha.

KENNEWICK -- It's been at least four years since local gardeners have had to worry much about winter injury on their landscape plants.

However, this past winter's severe cold spells have resulted in some very sad looking plants, such as photinia, winter creeper and rhododendron.

Officials believe the men died from exposure. There were no signs of suspicious injuries on either body.

It appeared they had tried to protect themselves from the cold by lying beneath downed logs. The men had neither matches nor a lighter between them.
