Los Angeles Clippers and BeGreen Carbon Offsets Team Up To Boost Earth Day Awareness with 'Green Night Game'
Austin, TX (PRWEB) April 7, 2009 -- Encouraging fans to take action to reduce their environmental footprint, the Los Angeles Clippers and BeGreen, the carbon offset division of Green Mountain Energy Company, are teaming up to host the first-ever Green Night Game at STAPLES Center.

On Saturday, April 11, as part of the team's game against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Clippers hope to boost awareness of and support Earth Day 2009 by using a portion of the ticket sales from the game to purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) that will neutralize the environmental impact of fans' travel to and from the game. BeGreen also will donate additional RECs to offset the electricity usage at STAPLES Center on April 11.
Green obsession puts deadly heat on elderly | Herald Sun
THE green jihad against airconditioners must stop. Too many elderly Australians have died already.

Victoria's chief health officer, Dr John Carnie, this week said some 374 Victorians may have been killed by the January heat wave, most of them old.

In South Australia, the toll is estimated at 80.

Just how many died because power blackouts knocked out their airconditioning is not known. And I doubt either government will ever say.

But what we are told is that both states now have plans to cut off the airconditioning - or make it too costly for pensioners to use - just when the heat is at its most lethal and the lives of the elderly hang in the balance.

Here's a great idea: Turn the Staples Center lights off, and play the game in the dark!
