YAKIMA, Wash.- Cherry season is well underway but last night's unexpected freezing weather gave farmers a quick upset. When temperatures drop so low, farmers turn on their wind machines and then turn on their heaters in an effort to keep their cherries from freezing.
"Hopefully that'll raise the temperature if it doesn't its going to be a sad year for cherry farmers," said Doornink.

"We need the bees out right now, cool dark cold weather isn't good bee weather," said Wapato Farmer Jim Doornink.
Cherries depend on bees for pollination and with out the bees the cherries won't bloom as quickly.
"We're already later this year by 10 days so this will continue to delay it," said Jim Doornink.
