Cold weather may hit cherry crop
ABRAR LONE | APRIL 23: Srinagar: While the world famous Kashmiri cherry heads for ripening, the cold weather during the blooming season is increasing fears among farmers that its produce might reduce considerably.
“The production might dwindle by more than 60 percent this year,” said President of the Fruit Growers Association, Baramulla, Mohammad Yousuf Dar.
He said owing to a cold spell followed by heavy rainfall in the spring the bloom was completely destroyed in some key fruit growing areas.
“Also the dip in temperature has withered the crop,” he said.
