Should your National Park dollars be used to fund a ballet that promotes the greatest scientific fraud in human history?
McIntyre's ambitious new multi-media ballet about the effects of global warming, commissioned jointly by the Wolf Trap National Park and Glacier National Park for its Face of America program, will premiere in the summer of 2009 as part of the Company's tour across America.
Cisco Launches Carbon Emissions Map, First In San Francisco
While San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom (now candidate for California Governor) let slip that San Francisco was working on an environment-focused map at our Green:Net conference last month, the project is officially being announced today (yup, Earth Day). Developed by Cisco and San Francisco’s Department of the Environment, the “Urban EcoMap” is a web-based free mapping tool that will enable users to plug in their zip codes and visualize climate change information, like emissions from transportation, energy and waste.
What, no information about sunspots, PDO state, volcanoes, etc?

A Big Apple [Mandatory] Energy Plan - Dot Earth Blog - NYTimes.com
The other [story] focuses on New York City, where Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and the City Council Speaker, Christine C. Quinn, are pursuing an ambitious plan to cut energy use and carbon-dioxide emissions by the city’s huge assortment of older buildings (nice map at this link).

The story mentions some other communities across the country that are enacting mandatory measures requiring businesses and homeowners to take actions cutting energy use. There is resistance in some places, including Berkeley, Calif., where some homeowners face the prospect of paying tens of thousands of dollars to meet new standards. Do you know of situations where communities are, or aren’t, embracing such steps?
