Snow pounds region, heading towards record | Great Falls, Montana
New snowfall records for this date are likely as a storm pummels the region, said Michael Mercer of the National Weather Service.

At about 11:30 this morning, about 4 inches of snow had fallen at the National Weather Service's Great Falls office. With heavy snow expected throughout the afternoon and evening, the old record of 7.7 inches of snow in Great Falls on this date will probably be broken, Mercer said. That record was set April 28, 1970.

Great Falls could see a foot of snow in the next 24 hours, with precipitation tapering off Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning, Mercer said.

The Crushing Weight of My Predictive Powers - Chris Horner - Planet Gore on National Review Online
The Obama administration is softening up its European counterparts to accept the fact that he will not sign up to Kyoto II at Copenhagen; apologists insist that this really, really is rather different than his GOP predecessor — whose stance (somehow) was also really, really quite different from his Democratic predecessor — and are falling over themselves to explain it away. The important role that Congress plays in all of this has been rediscovered (after eight long years of being the Republican executive's doing). And — oh by the way — the administration is plotting a Plan B of circumventing the Constitution's treaty requirement by simply waving a wand and declaring Kyoto II to be not a treaty but an executive agreement (misstated as "executive order" in the piece).
Obama Orders Review of New York Flight as Cost Put at $328,835 - Bloomberg.com
The flight by the VC-25, a modified Boeing Co. 747, and two F-16 fighter jets cost $328,835, Air Force spokeswoman Vicki Stein said.

Three-Hour Mission

That includes $300,658 for the larger plane, which flew a three-hour mission, and about $28,178 for the F-16 jets, which flew 1.8 hours each, Stein said in an e-mailed statement.

The total includes fuel used in flight, fuel used to power ground equipment used to prepare the aircraft, and ground maintenance, Stein said.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said yesterday’s flyover was “two training missions that became in the end a picture mission” and only Air Force personnel were aboard.
