StormX :: Weather Risk : Atlantic cooling may presage Arctic ice increase
Recent satellite observations from the Arctic indicate that spring ice melting is beginning at a lower rate than normal this year. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, the area of ice-covered ocean has decreased only about 750,000 km2 from its peak value at the end of February, compared to a normal decline of 1.1 million km2 by late April. If this trend continues, the annual ice melt in 2009 may be less than in recent years, and the late summer Arctic ice extent may rebound from its well-publicized downtrend. [Via Climate Realists]
Q and A with alarmist journalist Andrew Freedman - washingtonpost.com
[Freedman:] ...Whether we wait another few years for more data, or listen to most climate scientists who say that reducing greenhouse gas emissions is necessary to prevent significant climate change, is in large part a policy decision that I won't weigh in on here.
...
Andrew Freedman: Hi Evanston, I hope conditions are finally warming up there after a long and tough winter! (I used to live in Chicago and know how brutal it can be).
An actress and a guy from Animal Planet weigh in
WASHINGTON (AP) - Actress Ashley Judd and TV personality Jeff Corwin are urging Congress to spend $7 billion a year to help safeguard America's wildlife from the impact of global warming.

Judd is a longtime environmental activist. The actress told a House subcommittee on Thursday that climate legislation should not just address the causes of global warming, but also the effects already being seen on the ground.

Judd says evidence of global warming is already being felt on her farm in Tennessee.

Corwin is a biologist and a host on the cable channel Animal Planet. He told the committee that up to 30% of the world's plant and animal species will be on the brink of extinction if action isn't taken to curb global warming.

I live less than 30 miles from Judd's farm and I can tell you that it's absurd what she's saying. The temps in TN have shown no warming trends since 1850. Why do they let these celebs talk about such things. Notice, apparently she didn't say what the evidence was that global warming was affecting her farm. It's April and the morning temps are at least 10 degrees below average.
