Chu's nightmare scenario calls for blame to be placed where all global warming panic cultists wish it to be placed, at the feet of human productivity.

Obviously, if humans did not exist, the planet would be more pristine. Equally obviously, if man did not exist, the Earth still would have cycles of heating and cooling as it did before we arrived.

If it is a mere flaw of basic logic to instantly conclude that the current temperature up tick is the product of human industry, the imagery of rising seas and intensified storms appears to be concocted ravings undertaken without benefit of evidence.

For a crackpot Greenpeacer or a bored former vice president to trot this out is one thing. It's quite another for a cabinet-level officer of a sitting administration.
