The closer we get to cap-and-trade becoming law, the more its true picture comes into focus.

It's been portrayed as a free market solution, but with all the manipulation before the first permit has even traded, it doesn't resemble anything close to a market.

And it darn sure won't be free.

The latest congressional proposal to save the Earth from harmless carbon dioxide by government shrinking everyone's carbon footprint has advanced in the House of Representatives, oblivious to its economy-stifling effects.

Meanwhile, Reuters reports, China is planning for climate change without mandatory caps. The House Energy and Commerce Committee rejected Republican requests to delay the U.S. cap until China and India adopt similar standards. "The big winners are China and India, who are champing at the bit to take our jobs," said Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La.

The big losers? American consumers, whose costs will soar.

Finally, the legacy of cap-and-trade is not going to be a greener world.

It's going to be the world's largest new stock market, trading exclusively in a stock called carbon credits, where the mega-profits will be made by speculators, hedge funds, and the same financial and investment houses who just finished crashing the global economy.

After a short introduction, Fleming opened the floor up to audience questions, which he did for about an hour and a half in the Bossier Civic Center. The questions ranged from what Fleming thought of proposed "cap and trade" measures for greenhouse gases — "We call it 'cap our growth and trade our jobs,'" Fleming said — to expression of religion in the armed forces.
