Yes they can — if the American manufacturer can do what Toyota does with the Prius: sell its hybrid without significant, if any, profit and sustain this practice, as Toyota does, by selling about twice as many of the gas-thirsty pickup trucks that the president thinks are destroying the planet.
The House of Representatives has its “cash for clunkers” bill and it bears only a dim family resemblance to the enviro-alarmists’ original vision of forcing Americans into smaller, greener cars. Pretty disengenuious to come out with a study now justifying colder temperatures that were not projected in their original models that were used to justify the alarm of global warming. The fact that the study is being done by the people who are responsible for the temperature records we rely on for determining the validity of their alarm, is in itself alarming to say the least, as if James Hansen wasn't bad enough. Instead of trying to find out why the models are wrong they continue to prop up their failed hypothesis with more studies to explain away the failures of their original hypothesis, ain't science great.
