Opposition Growing to Waxman/Markey Bill
A growing list of agriculture groups have sent letters to Congress expressing opposition to or serious concerns about the Waxman/Markey climate change and energy legislation, H.R. 2454. The House Energy and commerce Committee has already passed the bill. However, it has been referred to eight other committees for review and consideration. One of those committees is the Agriculture Committee.

So far the American Farm Bureau Federation, National Corn Growers Association, National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation, United Egg Producers, American Farmers & Ranchers and the Fertilizer Institute have joined 16 state organizations in making their opposition to the bill known. No ag organization, national or state level, has voiced an opinion in favor of the legislation.
Choosing a green pediatrician
In addition to conversations with prospective pediatricians, you can also get some insight into the green potential of a medical practice by making an office visit simply to observe. What kind of lighting is used? (Incandescent bulbs are very non-green.) What kinds of cleaners are used? (A strong scent of bleach or ammonia is the tip-off that green cleansers are not yet in use.) Are there any babies in the waiting room who are wearing cloth or hybrid diapers? (This is a good sign that other parents with environmental concerns have chosen this doctor.)  [Via Climate Depot]
