Emissions trading scheme stand-off could end in early election | National News | News.com.au
AUSTRALIANS were yesterday threatened with a double dissolution election after the Rudd Government's failure to push through its controversial and costly emissions trading scheme (ETS).

The Daily Telegraph reports the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme Bill was killed off yesterday when two independent senators joined the Opposition in announcing they would vote for its deferment, saying the scheme would mean major job losses. The Greens want the Bill scrapped completely, arguing it does not go far enough.
The Reference Frame: Steven Chu will paint the world white
The results would still be absurdly small even if the whole world happened to co-operate with this childish game. This game may sound as a joke but if you do the same calculation with the CO2 consumption, you will end up with results that are even more absurd and tiny.
Malcolm Turnbull must lead carbon trading fight | Herald Sun
MALCOLM Turnbull must lead the Liberals to unambiguous and unqualified opposition to the Government's Emissions Trading Scheme.

Apart from the desirability of policy clarity, there are two very simple reasons to oppose the ETS.

It, and even more the underlying aim to reduce Australia's emissions of carbon dioxide, is just stupid. But further, poses a direct attack on not just Australia's future but our rationale as a functioning country and indeed our very existence.

In short, someone who does not oppose something which is so stupid and so anti-Australian, shouldn't be opposition leader.
