Infomercials differ from presentations by journalists because journalists feel a duty to talk to those with alternate views and consider arguments against whatever ideas the interviewee is attempting to "sell". Brokaw's program "Global Warming: The New Challenge With Tom Brokaw" attempts to sell the carbon credit program begun by the Enron corporation in the 90's. The program repeats the line that Enron's Ken Lay pushed: Minor increases in carbon dioxide supposedly will produce catastrophic global warming.
7. State of Fear by Michael Crichton
If you know a climate sceptic who likes to think of himself as "a maverick", you're sure to find this blockbuster on his shelf. The late Michael Crichton had a knack for tapping into what the American public wanted to hear, and when State of Fear was published, the nation was largely receptive to the message that global warming was a) not anthropogenic, and b) not a problem. Comes with a long "science bit" afterword, from which your maverick friend is sure to quote.

According to this, Crichton was motivated by greed for money when he wrote the book, only to die few years later of cancer. And his talks and interviews in which he denied AGW/CC, and his extensive research for State Of Fear, they were all done 'just to sell books'.
