It’s long past time to “abandon wornout dogmas,” as President Obama said in his inauguration. One of the dogmas, held by too many scientists and leaders, is that no matter what facts you find, you must report only those that support the belief we face an imminent global warming catastrophe.

Though he didn't address the legislation by name, the [Indiana governor Mitch Daniels] used Rose's commencement to again bring up carbon dioxide emissions and global warming, and he urged students to bring not only their technical competence to the debate, but courage.

He never said climate change wasn't taking place, nor that human activity doesn't contribute significantly to global warming. Rather, he wants the debate rational.

"In what has become less a scientific than a theological argument, anyone raising a contrary viewpoint or even a challenging question is often subjected to vicious personal criticism," said Daniels.
