1. Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor speaks like an alarmist
"I have absolutely no idea about the science of global warming," [Sotomor] said at one point during the hearing. "But if the science is right, we have relegated ourselves to killing the world in the foreseeable future. Not in centuries to come but in the very near future."2. Knowing that she is in the public eye, she needs to travel from New York to Washington DC
The distance directly between Washington DC to New York is 204 miles3. To model proper behavior for the little people, she could choose to travel via Amtrak
Amtrak's Metroliner — The Smarter Shuttle — is a sensible, comfortable, convenient and productive way to travel among all the cities from New York to Washington, DC. Why drive to an outlying airport when Amtrak takes you right to the heart of our great northeastern cities?4. To model proper behavior for the little people, she could choose to travel via Greyhound bus
Q. In late March you started an alternative to the New York to Washington shuttle called BoltBus, with advertised fares as low as $1 one way, offering extra legroom, free Wi-Fi and power outlets. You already have a competitor on that specific route called Megabus.com. What was the rationale behind this effort and what customer are you trying to reach with it?5. So why did Sotomayor choose to travel via fossil-fueled airplane?
A. Over the last several years we watched the curbside operations of several carriers in New York City and the travel from New York to Philadelphia to Washington to Boston. They’ve done a very good job of attracting new riders into the industry. The consumers we’re targeting are Internet-savvy, students, young professionals — those folks who don’t own a car but are looking for an alternative community-specific origin and destination.
WASHINGTON - Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor hobbled through a busy day of meetings on Capitol Hill Monday after breaking her ankle in an early morning airport stumble, then boarding a flight from New York to Washington to visit senators who will vote on her confirmation.
The federal appeals court judge, who has been keeping a busy set of appointments with legislators, tripped while rushing for her plane at New York's LaGuardia Airport.

the idea is that we first need the carbon tax, and then once the economic 'pain' is shared by everybody, the "transition" to a "low carbon" society can finally happen.
Until then, it's ok to burn as much carbon as you like and jet around the world to "raise awareness" about climate change, to debate it at the IPCC, and to get those treaties signed.
Perhaps because planes are now "in" in the AGW world?
