"Cold" July continues in Dubuque, Iowa
Dubuque’s unseasonably cool snap continued Tuesday — the daytime high of 62 marked the fifth record cold-high temperature this month and fell 2 degrees shy of the coldest July day in the city’s history.

Previously, the coldest July 21 was 1912, when the temperature reached 68, and the coldest day for the entire month was 60, set on July 30, 1992.

At an average of 65.1 degrees, this July is shaping up as the coldest on record. Dubuque’s coldest July occurred in 1992, when Dubuque averaged 66.7 degrees.
"No Compromise in Defense of the Earth" - Infoshop News
After abandoning the mainstream environmental policy agenda, what options would remain for X in her pursuit of environmental justice and protection? Today we can discern an upward trend in radical, non-discursive, and often illegal interventions against the activities of polluting industries and the inertia of governments and citizens. From the anti-whaling campaigns of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to the tree-sitting of Earth First!, from Greenpeace unfurling a global warming banner on Mt. Rushmore to James Hansen getting arrested for protesting mountaintop removal mining: The momentum of direct action in defense of the Earth is mounting.

Welcome to the struggle of all species to be free. We are the burning rage of this dying planet… ELF works to speed up the collapse of industry, to scare the rich, and to undermine the foundations of the state. Together we have teeth and claws to match our dreams. Our greatest weapons are imagination and the ability to strike when least expected…
Letter: Global warming is one-sided | Universe.byu.edu
The denial of global warming seems to be epidemic in Utah. Even among students at BYU, the reality of global warming has been treated with skepticism and even animosity. I can’t help but to ask, “Why?” I can only guess the consumers of the aforementioned article fall into the same category of those who maintain the lunar landing was a hoax.
Cap and trade a disaster - NewsTimes.com
I am a Democrat. Democrats used to be for the people. By passing the so-called "cap and trade" bill in the House on June 26, they've shown unequivocally that they are now the party of special interests.
...
This is the worst and most dangerous law ever passed by the House. Make no mistake: This is not an environmental bill. Cap and trade has not worked in Europe. This is all about power, control, appeasing special interests and making a precious few very wealthy at the expense of the rest of us.

Like the stimulus fiasco, nobody had a chance to read the final bill before the vote because the 3 a.m. amendments were not integrated into the bill as of the time of the vote. Our representative, Chris Murphy, voted for the law, and he will be held accountable for this heinous act that hurts every single family and business in his district. Mr. Murphy, you just signed your own pink slip for the 2010 election. We will not forget what you did to us.
