Democrat Dan Boren: Calls against Waxman-Markey ran 4,000:1

McAlester, OK - [Democrat] Boren: Cap and trade worst bill he has seen
...
District 2 U.S. Rep. Dan Boren, D-Muskogee, voted “no” on the controversial measure, which will next be considered by the U.S. Senate.
...
This is probably the worst piece of legislation I’ve seen since I’ve been in Congress,” Boren said.

Apparently, many of Boren’s constituents agreed, based on the calls he received about the measure.

“We recorded about 4,000 calls against the bill,” Boren said.

“We had only one person call in support of it — and they were from out-of-state.”

Boren remained adamant in opposing the bill, despite a push from his party’s heavy hitters.

There was a lot of pressure from the president and from the speaker,” Boren said.
