An Interview With Nobel Prize-winning economist Thomas Schelling, Part Two - Conor Clarke
...And what I don't know is whether Americans are really willing to understand that and do anything for the benefit of the unborn Chinese.
It's a tough sell. And probably you have to find ways to exaggerate the threat. And you can in fact find ways to make the threat serious.
...
But I tend to be rather pessimistic. I sometimes wish that we could have, over the next five or ten years, a lot of horrid things happening -- you know, like tornadoes in the Midwest and so forth -- that would get people very concerned about climate change. But I don't think that's going to happen.

Is it any wonder why the prestige of the Nobel prizes has diminished so?
For a "professional" person to wish harm and disaster on his fellow man makes one wonder what his real "agenda" is here. Is he that "soaked" in the cloak of green greed mongers and hateful elitists that consider humanity just "maggots" and "Eaters"? Maybe he should remove "HIMSELF" from the humanity he hates so willingly.
Hey Tom, I am thinking maybe you just need a heart attack so everyone can quit eating onion rings, after all, it's for the children. I already know this guy was picked last by any team.
He knows very well that frequencies of tornados and hurricanes are nothing to do with AGW theory. What he wishes is that these events become manifestations of the catastrophism he (actors) seeks to associate with climate change in order to exploit their relationship as tools of behavioral control: and Behavioral control is the subject he believes is his most researched and revered (a nobel prize?). Judging by his misanthropic, Malthusian masturbation of words, I might argue that his frustration at not being able to control the weather is analogous to other more Freudian frustrations, that ultimately have led him to such delusional reasoning.
That he wishes such horror on peoples fate is a reflection not only of his inhumanity but also of his inconsequence.
His distorted altruism requires, on the one hand, the "saving" of as-yet unborn Chinese, and on the other the deaths of "midwest" residents - his own countrymen - in pursuit of his "...intermediate organization..." that will "...administer the funds..." of Americans.
Does he mean the United Nations - The ultimate climate kleptocracy?
Seriously worrying words.
I think he should be quoted as a Nobel Prize Whining .... That would fit the whiner!
"Aide to foreign countries is "biddling" amounts... if that is the case, then best to simply forgo any foreign aide and brings those "biddling amounts" back to the US...
By the way, you can go the the foreign Moms and tell them it was your idea...
This man is a disgrace - he should be stripped of his `Nobel Prize'! Still, they gave one to Gore so what do you expect, I suppose!
Doesn't the gentleman realise that if there are no such terrible things, this probably means that there is no such thing as Global Warming? He sounds like Fundamentalist Christians who are hoping for Armagedden and will be terribly disappointed if it doesn't happen. Well, there we are, then, he's a Global Warming Fundamentalist!
He is a shame to the field and study of economics.
