New Zealand: "Snow-lovers get stuck on Ruapehu after heavy fall" w00t! Thanks, Al Gore!
Dozens of skiers and snowboarders were stuck on Mt Ruapehu last night after heavy snow made it unsafe to drive out without chains - and more snow is on the way.

More than 100 cars were sitting in Whakapapa ski area carpark at 5.30pm, forbidden from driving out.

Then there’s the case of Alan Carlin, the Environmental Protection Agency economist whose critical statistical analysis of a proposal for that agency to assume a leading role in regulating greenhouse gases was blatantly suppressed. Obama’s EPA administrator, Lisa Jackson, and other senior agency officials made it clear to Carlin that his study was not supportive of the Obama administration’s policy and so would be buried in the bowels of bureaucracy. He was also instructed not to talk to the media.

Carlin is a 38-year EPA veteran and a respected economist. His study pointed out the many flaws in the data used to support the U.N.’s case for human causes of global warming, notably with regard to the use of carbon-based fuels like oil and natural gas. Carlin was muzzled by representatives of the same president who repeatedly bashed President George W. Bush for allegedly “politicizing science.”
Examiner Editorial: Cap and trade - The path to ‘global governance’ | San Francisco Examiner
And for what? This is a sacrifice that will force American consumers to pay much higher energy bills. Yet, cap-and-trade proponents seem startlingly comfortable with the fact that no such sacrifice is ahead for the rest of the world. Former Vice President Al Gore happily announced that cap and trade would drive change through “global governance and global agreements.” But, these global agreements do not exist. In sworn congressional testimony, the administrator of the EPA admitted that “U.S. action alone will not impact world [carbon dioxide] levels.”

Unilateral U.S. actions, however, will affect U.S. competitiveness, sacrificing jobs, growth, opportunity and prosperity, quite possibly for generations to come. In other words, Obama has not hesitated to surrender U.S. sovereignty piecemeal to suit the global governance crowd. Yet, this relish for global governance stops at the water’s edge. The president has not demanded similar action from India and China — and nobody seriously expects him to do so, ever.
Wisconsin: Record cold predicted for Friday
If you have plans to visit a waterpark on Friday, the trip could be more chilling than thrilling.

Record low high temperatures are forecast for southern Wisconsin on Friday as a very cool Canadian air mass covers the region.

The high on Friday is only expected to be in the low 60s, which would be under the record coldest high temperature in Madison for July 17 of 67 degrees, set in 1900.
...
Saturday's high is expected to be in the upper 60s, which could challenge the record coldest high temperature for July 18 of 68, set in 1924.
