Obama [Allegedly] Considering Solar Panels [or a wind turbine] For White House; [sounds a bit testy when asked for details] | NEWS JUNKIE POST
A plan to make the White House more energy efficient may be on the works.

At a press conference on Thursday, President Barack Obama was asked by a reporter if he was considering adding a “wind turbine” or solar panels to the White House. The president had been meeting with CEO’s from energy companies during the afternoon to discuss their projects for building clean technology.

“I was just talking to Secretary Chu about how he is going to consult with these outstanding folks to figure out how we can improve energy efficiency here,” Obama answered.

The reporter pressed on and asked when such a plan would happen. “I just told you — we’re moving. Come on, guys…I don’t have a date certain,” Obama replied as he left the podium.

And last Friday, the House of Representatives passed an extraordinary piece of legislation that would make renewable energy the profitable kind of energy in America. It will reduce our dependence on foreign oil, it will prevent the worst consequences of climate change, and above all it holds the promise of millions of new jobs; jobs, by the way, that can't be outsourced.

Barack Obama: Yes. The first thing, I think, is for the American people to draw on that reservoir of confidence and stick-to-it-ness and perseverance that my grandparents had during much tougher times during the Great Depression. The second thing: Each of us have a role to play in not being wasteful when it comes to energy. For us to turn off the lights when we leave the house, to make sure that we’re unplugging the chargers that we use on our cell phones.

[Obama] So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done [that's green], and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'."
