sp!ked review of books | Question everything – even environmentalism
A new book on the importance of being sceptical about received wisdom and simplistic spindoctoring mysteriously leaves out one area of life where scepticism is thoroughly frowned on today: climate change.

Michigan: Chilly July gets cool reception
Phil Kaatz, field crops agent for St. Clair County, said cool temperatures have prevented strong crop growth.

He said planting was delayed two to four weeks and weather hasn't been helpful since.

"Crops are still struggling to catch up to get the height that we normally see," Kaatz said. "There are great concerns about the type of yield this year."

He said there are concerns corn might not be ready on time and that an early fall frost could cause damage.
