Thailand aims to have a carbon fund established this year to coincide with the possible launch of Board of Investment (BoI) tax incentives for greenhouse gas emission reduction projects under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

The Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO) is drafting the potential structure of the carbon fund and this process should take two months, said TGO executive director Sirithan Pairoj-Boriboon.

The final draft will go before the national climate change committee chaired by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva for endorsement.
