[Are we sure that wind turbines couldn't slightly change the climate?]: Wind turbines show up on radar as tornadoes
Wind turbines in Iowa and across the country are showing up on weather radar and looking like tornadoes. Recently, the Des Moines National Weather Service office received a call from an emergency worker who mistook a wind turbine for a twister on doppler radar.
Ian Katz: The beauty of 10:10 is that it's both achievable and meaningful | Environment | The Guardian
The 10:10 campaign, which is launched today in partnership with the Guardian, is designed both to answer the call for immediate action, and to offer individuals and organisations a meaningful way of taking it. It is the brainchild of Franny Armstrong, the irrepressible film-maker behind The Age of Stupid, a powerful docudrama about our failure to tackle climate change. The idea is compellingly simple: by signing up, individuals and organisations from multinational companies to schools and hospitals commit to doing their best to cut their emissions by 10% by the end of 2010, precisely the sort of deep, quick cut the scientists say is needed.

Poor weather limits Ont. winter wheat output
Weather for the development of the crop in the fall was extremely poor, he said. There had been adequate snow cover for a portion of the winter, but an early melt left the crop vulnerable to tremendously cold temperatures and, in turn, lots of frost heave.

"In the spring we were looking at reduced stands and a winter wheat crop that in general was not very vigorous," Johnson said. "Combine that with a late spring, and we thought the crop was in big trouble."
