Australian Climate Madness: Renewable energy target is "mad, bad tokenism"
The RET isn't just a feel-good gesture that the Opposition should wave through, it will achieve what all climate related legislation achieves: nothing in terms of climate, everything in terms of increased costs for consumers"Experts" offer moose survival ideas for Minnesota | Duluth News Tribune | Duluth, Minnesota
Warmer summer and winter temperatures, parasites spread by deer, disease and likely other factors have combined to thwart moose at the southern edge of their natural range, said Rolf Peterson, chairman of the advisory committee and renowned moose researcher at Michigan Technological University.Flashback: Is carbon dioxide killing Minnesota moose?
Peterson said the state’s roughly 7,500 moose are hanging on but that there are “no guarantees’’ they will be around in years to come and “no silver bullet’’ to solve their decline.
Even “the tip of the Arrowhead won’t be such a hospitable place for moose a couple decades down the road,’’ he said.
Why does this article fail to even mention wolf predation?
According to the Fish and Wildlife Service, the number of Minnesota wolves grew by a factor of three (or even six) from 1973 to 2004. Doesn't it seem intuitive that a wolf population over 3,000 could have a significant impact on calf survival on a moose population of under 8,000?
