Congress won't pass Climate Change after Health Care debacle. Would you want to? Facing elections next year, go through another contentious public law making process that will have more economic impact on the future U.S. economy than the proposed, supposed revenue neutral Health Care Reform? with or without the Public Option. No way. You would be a stupid politician. I predicted earlier in the year that Health Care Reform would eclipse Climate Change. I just expected the process to take into next year. Then much to my surprise, Climate Change was introduced and well my! passed far earlier than Health Care was even in the public eye.

All that has changed.
Biofuels 'starving the poor to keep the cars of the rich running'.
Biofuels have gone from a global energy savour to a bogeyman that threatens to ‘starve the poor to keep the cars of the rich running’, according to leading charity Christian Aid.

In a report called ‘Growing Pains’ released today, the charity claims biofuel production can cause widespread deforestation, small farmers being moved from their land and poor labour rights.

The improved crop conditions reported by the government don’t capture the impact of planting delays from June rains and unusually low temperatures, said William Fordham, the president of C & S Grain Marketing Inc. in Ohio, Illinois.

Fordham said soybean production may be reduced by white mold, a fungal disease caused by wet, cool conditions in parts of the Midwest that is spreading in the region.
