Unscientific America 2: Buy the book — and read it. « Climate Progress
In short, the fate of perhaps the next 100 billion people to walk the Earth rests in the hands of scientists (and those who understand the science) trying to communicate the dire nature of the climate problem (and the myriad solutions available now) as well as the ability of the media, the public, opinion makers, and political leaders to understand and deal with that science.

That means, for all practical purposes, it won’t get considered at all. No one will want to propose the kind of fee increases a cap-and-trade system means in an election year. By 2011, Republicans will have made gains in the House and Senate, thanks to a series of overreaches and failures from Obama and Congressional leadership, and Democrats won’t have the votes to move them. If they don’t get back on the 2009 agenda, they’re likely dead.
Newsmax.com - Record Lows Dispel Global Warming Myth
Former Vice President Albert Arnold Gore Jr., the father of the great global warming hoax, is having a serious problem with Mother Nature: She's refusing to cooperate with his campaign to convince the world that our planet is well on the way toward barbecuing itself on a spit fashioned from carbon dioxide (the dreaded CO2).

Blogger for Washington Post Admits Skewing Conference Facts - by E. Jay Donovan - Environment & Climate News
“Open and honest scientific discussions and disagreements serve the vital function of ensuring that truth ultimately prevails,” said Heartland Institute Science Director Jay Lehr. “While Tracton is entitled to advocate for one side or the other in this scientific debate, he crosses a sharp ethical line when he knowingly makes false assertions about who was invited to participate as speakers and audience members at the International Conference on Climate Change.

“The Washington Post should be ashamed of Tracton’s breach of ethics and his refusal to post a retraction or an apology,” Lehr added.

"..fate of ... 100 billion people ... rests in the hands of scientists.." is it just me or does this sound like centralized planning? obviously the non-scientists have to be ruled by the smarter people above them

Regarding the NEWSMAX.com article, above, it seems that the author really only looked at half- or less- of the data. This is troubling when the data exists publicly: In fact, the western third of the country experienced some of the warmest July conditions ever -- Many places reported the month's daily highs and lows among the hottest on record -- from Phoenix to Seattle.
You cannot be of service if you only report a select few facts and try to draw such wide conclusions. From January to June, this year is 5th warmest on record, and JUNE is the 2nd warmest on record.
