He said that events like the Bluefield Coal Show, demonstrate “what coal means to this great country,” and said that the climate change bill in the form that it passed through the House of Representatives is “totally unacceptable” to the state of West Virginia.
The Associated Press reported on Wednesday that students of the University of Missouri as well as at other colleges, are participating in “a Sierra Club-mounted campaign targeting coal-based power at colleges, whether generated at on-campus plants of purchased from private utilities.”
Manchin said that if college campuses want to do without energy produced by coal, “I would be happy to oblige,” he said.
